Let's Talk Screen Time

Some days look like this.
Let's talk about screen time. You hear it constantly. "Limit screen time" And yes, most of us try to limit their screen time. But let's be real, some days look like this.
Some days the dog hair everywhere gets to you, the dishes in the sink are piled high, you can't remember the last time you dusted, the kids are arguing nonstop, and suddenly the dog is throwing up on the rug, of course. Your brain goes into overdrive. The kids can't go outside because it's 115 degrees in the dead of summer in Arizona (or 5 degrees in the dead of winter in Colorado) So you turn on the screens. And that's okay. Guess what, your child will not be ruined from having hours of screens for one day. And honestly, sometimes us moms (and dads) just need a break, an hour to shower in peace and get our workout in without kids climbing all over us. Or some days you're sick and just need to rest. And THAT'S OKAY! Social media tells us we (moms) aren't allowed to rest, or shower in peace, or turn screens on for our kids. But guess what, that's a lie. Life happens. We are doing the best we can and sometimes that's giving 60% of ourselves because the other 40% is gone in exhaustion. That's okay. That's normal.
The cool thing about technology now is that there are so many great shows, education shows and Bluey. (Bluey fans know) So turn on the screen and don't feel bad about it. Take your shower. Do your workout. Vacuum up that dog hair. Rest if you're sick. Or find that other 40% of yourself.
Some days will look like this. And that's okay.
